Summer Games 2024: Opening Ceremony on the Seine River.

In a groundbreaking move for the Summer Games 2024 is shattering convention by taking the opening ceremony out of the stadium and into the heart of the city along the iconic Seine River.

Traditionally held within the confines of a stadium, the parade of athletes will now navigate the Seine aboard specially equipped boats, offering viewers around the globe a close-up view of the action via TV and online streams.

Over the course of a 6-kilometer route winding from east to west, approximately 10,500 athletes will traverse Paris’s central districts, showcasing their athletic prowess against the backdrop of iconic landmarks. Athletes will take the stage alongside performers, embodying Summer Games 2024’s ethos of creating an event that prioritizes and celebrates its participants.

Departing from the Austerlitz bridge near the Jardin des Plantes, the river parade will weave around the Île Saint Louis and the Île de la Cité, passing beneath numerous bridges and landmarks such as Place de la Concorde, Esplanade des Invalides, and the Grand Palais. The procession will culminate at the Iéna bridge near the Trocadéro, where the final ceremonies will unfold.

Summer Games 2024‘s innovative approach promises to redefine the experience, placing the city itself at the forefront of the Games’ spectacle and celebration.
