Paul here from the On Point Events Team and welcome to another short video with some insights on how to approach planning a trip to the Paris Summer Games in 2024.
One of the first things to consider in planning your trip is what you want to see. Now, that may seem obvious but 28 different sports, you get 306 different events taking place over 18 days. So it becomes important to narrow down the sports you want to see like Artistic Gymnastics, Skate Boarding, Track & Field, etc. and then looking at the Competition schedule determining when those sports are happening and if there is an overlap between them or not. In some cases you may have to sacrifice seeing one discipline for another. Perfect example is Swimming and Track and Field. Most of the Swimming events takes place during the first half of the Games and Track and Field doesn’t get started until the second half.
Once you narrow down what disciplines you want to see, you will be able to get more clarity on what dates and how long you will need or want to stay in Paris. Next is then taking a day by day approach, factoring in that your arrival day will pretty much be a wash due to travel fatigue and Jet Lag; Similarly, we generally don’t recommend attending any events on your day of departure. So if you are in Paris for a six night stay, that means you really only have 5 full days to fill. Now you are probably also going to want to factor in some sightseeing while you are there as well as a little downtime…after all it is a vacation. Lastly…we recommend planning no more than 2 Olympic events per day …unless they are in the same venue or general location in Paris just due to the anticipated travel times getting between the different parts of the city during the Event.
