Summer Games 2024 Trivia

Paris is the second city, after London, to host the Summer Games three times. Paris last hosted the Summer Games in 1924, making 2024 the 100th anniversary of that event.

Paris Summer Games 2024 will be the sixth Summer Games held in France (three Summer and three Winter). Additionally, the 2030 Winter Games will also be hosted in France.

The sports of breakdancing, sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing are new additions to the program, with breakdancing making its debut. See more about the changes to sports and the complete list of Summer Games 2024 sports.

The  Paris Summer Games 2024 medals were designed by elite French jewelers Maison Chaumet. The main feature is a six-sided metal medallion set in the center like a precious stone, made from an original piece of the Eiffel Tower. Surrounding it is a circular arrangement of ridges designed to catch the light and evoke the rays of the sun.

In a break from tradition, the River Seine will serve as the venue for the Summer Games Opening Ceremony, with athletes traveling in boats along a six-kilometer route during the spectacle.

Ukraine is considering boycotting Paris Summer Games 2024 if Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to compete.
