Tips and Insights: How to Put Together Your Trip to the Tokyo Summer Games in 2021

Philippe here from the On Point Events Team and welcome to another short video with some Tips and Insights on putting together your trip to the rescheduled Tokyo Summer Games in 2021.

There are couple of things that I want to leave you with, first one is a tip. When your trying to put together your itinerary and your trying to figure out what event should you see while you’re in Tokyo for the Olympics, absolutely seeing gymnastics, swimming, and the opening ceremony; those are the popular events that everybody wants to see but their also the most premium events to go and see. So that is going to add up quite substantially to the budget perspective once you start going through it. And I would like to encourage people that in the end of the day, the Olympics has 33 different sports participating. There are some fascinating new sports and great for spectator perspective, like skateboarding, sports climbing or even surfing. I would highly recommend that people would branch out a little bit and try to include in their itinerary something other than just core premium events.

Second tip would be, do not try to do more than 2 events per day. We have die hard fans that come to us and they want to pack as many events as possible in their itinerary. Obviously, that make sense since they are in Tokyo for the Summer Games for that reason, but I also suggest to leave a time out to take in some culture and indulge in everything that Tokyo has to offer. It is such a fascinating destination. Things like their culinary scene are just incredible, historical sites like Senso-ji, exploring the quirky side of Tokyo like Akihabara, Shibuya Crossing, Pet Cafes and more. Absolutely find a way to weave that in the itinerary while you are there.

Last but not least, I’ll give you more insight than anything else. We get this question a lot. Given that the Summer Games has been reschedule from 2020 to 2021 due to COVID, has the availability increased at your hotel and your event tickets inventory? The short answer is no. The reason is that all the clients that booked the Summer Games with us for 2020, their reservations just moved over to 2021. So, availability has not gone up. It stayed the same. And without being too self-serving, that really means if you going to plan a trip to Tokyo Summer Games, I would do so sooner rather than later.
