This year’s edition features some of the biggest names in British fashion, including Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld.

London Collections Men’s Fashion Week What to Expect

The first day of the men’s fashion week in London is upon us, and we have a few things to look forward to. First up are some new looks from the likes of Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs. We also get our first glimpse at what will be on show for next week’s show.

This year’s collection has been designed by Karl Lagerfeld who was responsible for creating the iconic ‘Chanel No. 5’ collection. He said that he wanted his latest collection, which features an array of different fabrics, colours and patterns, to “reflect the spirit of Paris – where everything comes together”.

Lagerfeld’s inspiration came from the city itself, with its many architectural landmarks such as Notre Dame de Paris, Louvre Museum and Arc de Triomphe. His design team included Christian Lacroix, Olivier Theyskens, Nicolas Ghesquière and Pierre Cardin.

A number of designers were present including Raf Simons, Zac Posen, John Galliano, Riccardo Tisci and Alessandro Micheli. There were also collaborations between brands like Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and Hermès.

For this season’s show, there will be two main themes: one focusing around luxury items and and another focused on everyday items. Both themes include pieces inspired by the city, but they can vary depending on the season.

One thing you won’t find here though is any sort of traditional couture or haute couture. Instead, you’ll see more modern pieces. In fact, it’s not clear if these clothes will even make it into stores because they’re so new. However, there’s no doubt that they’ll sell out quickly.

The 2019 Men’s Fashion Show London is a must-see for any fashionista who wants to be part of history. But how do you get there? We asked our experts and they have some tips on where to go if you’re looking to catch up with your favourite designers before heading out into the world of fashion.

Top Two Travel Tips for Getting Around London for 2019 Men’s Fashion Week

1. Get there early

If you’ve got time then head straight from Heathrow Airport or Gatwick Airport. It’s not too late but you’ll need to make sure that you arrive by 10am so as to avoid traffic jams. You can also take an Uber car service which will pick you up. Alternatively, book a taxi through one of London’s many black cab companies.

2. Take public transport

There are plenty of buses running between central London, Liverpool Street station and King’s Cross station. You’ll want to use these services because they’re quicker than taking the tube – especially when it comes to getting around London. However, it’s worth noting that there’s no direct bus route linking Piccadilly Circus and St Paul’s Cathedral. So plan ahead and check online for timetables beforehand.
